“ This is my new favorite restaurant in LA. The ambiance. The service. The food...the food...THE FOOD! It was art. It was healthy. It was creative. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try everything else! We had hot lavender limeade, miso soup, gyoza, baked crab-cake hand roll, Shoj-in-and-out hand roll, dragon toll, baked scallop roll and black sesame ice cream. The gyoza and dragon roll were my favorites, and it was all excellent. A little complimentary peach cinnamon tea came with the bill, and we were given a little gift on the way out which included some words of wisdom and a few other things. Thank you! Can't wait to go back! ”

“ My wife and I first visited this restaurant seven years ago, and we decided to return because we had such a memorable experience. This time, we tried the Shojin November tasting menu (a 10-course offering), and it did not disappoint. The menu was incredibly creative, featuring a delightful variety of dishes and flavors. Two standout dishes for us were the button mushroom and the tempura banana with chocolate mousse--both absolutely blew our minds! The service was warm and attentive, and the staff went the extra mile by taking a photo for us and even arranging a small birthday celebration. Overall, this is a wonderful, upscale restaurant that's perfect for special occasions. We highly recommend stopping by if you're looking for a place to celebrate or enjoy an exceptional dining experience. ”

“ I'm not a huge sushi fan. It's a texture thing for me. So, when my friend wanted to visit Shojin, noting that it was vegan sushi, I perked up at the idea. Perhaps, I would enjoy this more. The restaurant itself is lovely with dark, calming lighting. The kind of ambiance that I like. The staff was friendly, attentive and patient. Everything I tried was well seasoned and a lot of it did give vibes of the sea without using animal products. To me, the dessert was the star, as it was rich and decadent. A beautiful way to end the meal. ”

“ This place has been under my radar for some time and it was finally on a whim that we decided to check it out as soon as they opened for dinner. There are plenty of meters on the main and side streets, as well as neighborhood parking. They are next to a couple of other restaurants. We actually walked into the soba place right next door on accident, and made note to try next time. We didn't make reservations, but because we got there right when they opened there was no one there and got seated right away. The inside is quaint and simple, but elegant at the same time. The menu has plenty of variety from rolls, to ramen, to plated dishes. They have an alcohol menu as well and nonalcoholic beverages. We ordered the crab tartare, spicy miso ramen, and the taste of Gion, Kyoto dessert sampler. Everything was so beautiful as well as delicious. The care that goes into each dish and the intricate details create some culinary masterpieces. The tartare was bigger than expected and had different flavors that came out with each layer. The ramen was just spicy enough without being overpowering. The vegan egg looked just like the real thing and even the texture could fool you. The final show-stopper of the meal was the Kyoto sampler. The black sesame cookies n' cream ice cream was amazing! It had a crunchy cookie throughout with the slight salt from the sesame ice cream. I could a pint of it. They finish your meal off with a soothing, digestive hot green tea. Service was excellent, very attentive and personable. This place really takes vegan high-quality eating to the max. “ First time having vegan sushi and Shojin did not disappoint! Def on the higher price end, but all the dishes were so freshly prepared and delicious (none of the "fake" meat) - lots of mushroom, tofu and avocado options. Mushroom tempura is delicious for an app - so juicy! Crab hand roll was one of the best hand rolls I've had with an unami sauce. For rolls, we shared the Rainbow (veggie) roll and Dynamite roll - both were flavorful and had a nice finish to each bite! Servers were so kind and attentive. Lovely dining experience. For my first vegan sushi experience, I am so impressed and will be returning! ”
